Es hijo del dramaturgo Sir Tom Stoppard y de la médico/autora Miriam Moore-Robinson.
Tiene un hermano William "Bill" Stoppard y dos medios hermanos Oliver Stoppard y Barnaby "Barny" Stoppard.
Su prima es la ex-diputada Oona King.
