Hulusi Bey, who has three daughters, raises his eldest daughter Fatoş like a boy. Spoiled and tough-natured, Fatoş discourages all suitors by playing various tricks. Hulusi Bey's last hope is to marry Fatoş to Ayhan, the son of his old friend, who is her cradle mate. Despite all his efforts, Hulusi Bey cannot track down Ayhan, who went to Europe after his father's death. Just as Fatoş thinks she has escaped marriage, Ayhan, her childhood sweetheart, returns to marry her. While Ayhan makes plans to bring Fatoş to heel, Fatoş seeks ways to dissuade Ayhan.
