Ivan is a former Russian football star, now a downed pilot and the host of a boring football show. Everything changes when he gets into a live argument with his former teammate and the country's most successful lapta coach, Maks. After the public conflict, Ivan loses not only his job but also the last of his public recognition. To regain his honor, he makes a bet with Maks to become the best lapta coach. Better than Maks. However, the team Ivan assembles turns out to be, to put it mildly, less than professional: a neurotic, a boring pensioner, a gamer, a weightlifter, and a notorious hooligan. Ivan must rehabilitate this motley "dream gang" and lead it to victory.
