Ryota's house is a shack in a depression in the bank, with a dirt floor and a six-tatami room, but even though they are poor, Ryota is not above it. He is a good older brother to his younger sister Kyoko. But then something bad happens. His father runs away with another woman. This is a touching story about a boy who lives a tough life even in the depths of poverty and despair, and the strong love between his brother and sister.
