Meissy (10) discovers that her father Tom (37) is not traveling the world as she thought, but is actually living homeless in her city. She decides to find him and tries to reunite her parents. Despite her mother's objections, she becomes increasingly involved in Tom's life and learns that he is struggling with schizophrenia.
